The Cuban missile strikes again, forces final showdown
The energy had all but faded at US cellular Field as the White Sox entered the sixth inning down by a score of two to one. But that bottom of the sixth, which started with a dreaded leadoff walk turned out to be the inning that saved the season. After Gavin Floyd’s throwing error in the top of the inning, the fans at US cellular were quieted and began to fear the worst. But Floyd recovered to strike out the final batter in that inning and something seemed to happen both in the stands and on the pitching mound. After the leadoff walk to Dewayne Wise, Tigers combined for three wild pitches and two walks. This allowed the wing lies to score from third to tie the game up at two. The White Sox then slowly loaded the bases on walks and Alexei Ramirez stepped up to the plate. Ramirez who came into the game with three grand slams on the season came through once again, crushing a first pitch fastball over the White Sox bullpen into a throng of re-energized Sox fans. Ramirez threw his arms up immediately upon hitting it knowing that he had gotten enough. This is his fourth grand slam of the season, a rookie record and another example of why the Cuban missile deserves recognition as one of the top rookies in the league. The White Sox went on to win the games eight to two in force a final showdown for the Central with the Twins. The game is set to begin at 630 Tuesday with John Danks going up against Nick Blackburn at US cellular Field. Tickets for the game sold out in just under 16 minutes and the organization is calling for all fans attending the game to wear black in support of the team, along with this fans will receive free black sox pride towels
